My big sister drives me everywhere. My parents are very busy and if it weren’t for her, it’d be hard for me to get around. I just hate that she texts while she drives all the time. Should I talk to her or tell my parents? Please help me.

You’ve got to speak up little sister! Go directly to the source of the problem; Tell your sister how you feel. And tell her what she’s doing is dangerous. Let her know if she keeps it up, you’re telling mom and dad. Better to be riding the bus and alive than praying for your life with a texting driver behind the wheel.

My Momma Says…
Texting while driving is dangerous. The National Safety Council reports that cell phone use while driving leads to 1.6 million crashes each year. Nearly 330,000 injuries occur each year from accidents caused by texting while driving. 1 out of every 4 car accidents in the United States is caused by texting and driving. First, have a conversation with your sister. Show her these statistics and tell her how you feel about what she is doing, which is putting her and your lives in danger. If her behavior doesn't change, then by all means, tell your parents. Remember, you are in charge of your life and have the right to be safe.
